What You’ll Do

Confidential client is hiring an entry-level Project Engineer to join a multidisciplinary Water team in Fayetteville, NC. You will work under the direction of a Project Manager to produce design-phase deliverables for water and wastewater projects and support client communications to ensure project goals and expectations are met.

  • Support engineering calculations and detailed design for water distribution, wastewater collection, pumping systems, storage, and treatment plant projects
  • Prepare technical deliverables including reports, technical memoranda, design manuals, plans, sections, details, and specifications
  • Coordinate with multi-discipline teams to integrate civil, process, and hydraulic elements into practical, cost-effective designs
  • Assist with improvements and retrofits of existing water and wastewater facilities
  • Participate in client meetings and contribute to project scheduling and documentation

Responsibilities

  • Perform engineering calculations for hydraulics, pumping, storage, and treatment processes
  • Produce clear design drawings and technical specifications suitable for construction bidding
  • Use project management tools and MS Office to track tasks, prepare presentations, and communicate progress
  • Collaborate with senior engineers and project managers to meet quality and schedule targets
  • Support permitting, modeling, and constructability review as needed

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil, environmental, or biological/biosystems engineering from an ABET-accredited program
  • Registered as an Engineer-in-Training (EIT) or able to obtain EIT registration within 6 months
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficient with MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, and Outlook
  • Ability to work on-site in Fayetteville, NC and travel to project locations as needed

Preferred Skills

  • 0–1 years of internship or co-op experience related to water/wastewater system design
  • Master’s degree in civil, environmental, or biological/biosystems engineering (ABET-accredited)
  • Experience with MicroStation, WaterCAD, or SewerCAD
  • Familiarity with process modeling software such as Hydromantis GPS-X or BioWin
  • Interest in obtaining professional licensure (PE) and participating in continuing education
