What You’ll Do
The Project Engineer (project manager‑in‑training) will support the Project Manager and Superintendent in the day‑to‑day management of construction projects for a confidential client in the Trade & Construction industry. This role participates across the project lifecycle — from estimating and bidding through closeout — and provides opportunities for accelerated development toward project management.
- Identify and pursue business development opportunities and maintain positive client relationships
- Prepare full cost estimates, including quantity take‑offs and pricing
- Participate in bid solicitation, bid package preparation and bid analysis
- Assist in general contract and subcontract administration
- Prepare permit applications and maintain updated construction documents (including as‑builts)
- Manage and process shop drawings and submittals
- Coordinate material and equipment procurement and expediting
- Facilitate the RFI process and document project coordination meetings for distribution
- Monitor project schedules to ensure adherence to key dates
- Initiate, review and negotiate change orders
- Oversee project close‑out duties, including punch list creation and completion
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned
What We’re Looking For
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering (civil, architectural, construction) or construction management, or related field
- 0–2 years’ experience in the construction industry (entry‑level to early career)
- Ability to read, understand and interpret contract documents, drawings, specifications and schedules
- Strong problem‑solving skills and ability to propose alternative solutions
- Demonstrated leadership, interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal)
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and common project tools
- Self‑motivated, organized, detail‑oriented, with a strong work ethic and time‑management skills
- Ability to travel or temporarily relocate for assignments as required
- Must be authorized to work in the United States and not require sponsorship now or in the future
Working Conditions
The role is primarily performed indoors from a main or field office, with occasional outdoor work in varying weather and exposure to typical construction site hazards and noise. Light physical effort is required (handling objects up to 25 lbs, standing, walking). Work may be fast‑paced and sometimes exceed a 40‑hour workweek; on‑call availability may be required. The position requires frequent autonomy in decision‑making affecting project results.
Compensation & Benefits
Estimated base pay (provided by source): $73,480 per year (estimated).
