What You’ll Do

Confidential Client is hiring Project Engineers for commercial construction projects in Des Moines, IA. As a Project Engineer you will support project delivery by coordinating documentation, schedules, procurement, and communication between project teams and trade partners. This role is suitable for both entry-level candidates and those with prior experience who want to take on increasing responsibility.

• Partner with Project Managers and Superintendents to keep projects moving forward
• Coordinate with architects, designers, engineers, subcontractors, suppliers, and clients
• Manage project documentation including submittals, RFIs, drawings, specifications, and other critical project records
• Assist with project schedules, procurement, cost tracking, change management, and overall coordination
• Spend time in the field to monitor progress and help identify and resolve challenges
• Review plans and specifications to identify conflicts, questions, and opportunities early
• Communicate clearly and consistently with the project delivery team
• Take increasing ownership of project assignments as your experience and confidence grow

What We’re Looking For

For entry-level candidates:

• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field
• Relevant internship or hands‑on construction experience strongly preferred
• Foundational understanding of commercial construction processes, plans, and specifications
• Eagerness to learn, ask questions, and get involved

For experienced candidates:

• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field
• Prior commercial construction experience in a Project Engineer or similar role
• Working knowledge of project documentation, construction technology, scheduling, procurement, and coordination
• Demonstrated ability to take ownership and resolve project challenges

• Strong communication, organizational, and problem‑solving skills
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and follow through on commitments
• Confidence to raise questions, surface concerns, and participate in difficult conversations when needed
