What You’ll Do

Confidential Client is hiring a Project Engineer to support commercial ceiling and specialty ceiling projects in the Sacramento area. This role is ideal for motivated early-career candidates or experienced construction professionals looking to grow into project management.

• Assist Project Managers with planning and coordinating commercial ceiling projects from preconstruction through closeout.
• Review project plans, specifications, and contract documents for ceilings and related scope.
• Prepare and track submittals, RFIs, and material procurement to support on-time delivery.
• Coordinate with field crews, suppliers, vendors, and general contractors.
• Monitor project schedules and help maintain timelines to meet milestone and closeout dates.
• Track project costs, change orders, and maintain accurate documentation.
• Attend project meetings and prepare clear meeting notes and action items.
• Maintain project records and support closeout documentation and punchlist completion.
• Support quality control and ensure compliance with project specifications, codes, and safety requirements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or related field preferred but not required.
• Construction experience or familiarity with trade work is a plus.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills.
• Clear written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word). Experience with Bluebeam, Procore, Autodesk Construction Cloud, or similar platforms is advantageous.
• Ability to read construction drawings is preferred but trainable.

Preferred / Nice-to-have

• Prior experience on commercial interiors, ceilings, acoustical ceiling systems, or specialty ceiling projects.
• Basic understanding of submittal / RFI workflows and procurement.
• Experience using Procore, Bluebeam, or Autodesk Construction Cloud.
• Construction safety awareness and familiarity with on-site coordination.
