What You’ll Do

This entry-level Project Engineer will support field operations and project management on commercial construction projects. The role is hands-on and requires regular time on job sites in and around Charleston, SC. You will help ensure projects run safely, on schedule, and on budget while developing the skills needed to advance into roles such as Project Manager or Superintendent.

  • Assist the Superintendent with coordination of on-site labor and daily activities
  • Participate in project meetings (subcontractor, Owner-Architect-Contractor, pre-installation)
  • Maintain accurate project documents and drawings on-site and in project systems
  • Prepare daily field reports, weekly progress updates, manpower tracking, and production logs
  • Help develop short-term look-ahead schedules and support site logistics/phasing plans
  • Manage submittal collection, tracking, review, and distribution
  • Draft and track RFIs to clarify design and scope issues
  • Create and maintain procurement logs and material delivery schedules; monitor quantities and report discrepancies
  • Maintain as-built drawings, complete O&M manuals, and support turnover documentation
  • Support site-specific safety programs and QA/QC planning; obtain OSHA 30-hour certification
  • Assist with punch lists, Owner training sessions, and project closeout activities

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field preferred
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications
  • Technologically proficient — experience with Procore or similar construction management software is a plus
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail
  • Self-motivated, coachable, and eager to learn and grow in construction project delivery
  • Professional demeanor and ability to represent the confidential client on-site and in meetings

Location & Work Environment

  • Work location: Charleston, SC — significant time on active job sites is required
