About the Role
Confidential client in the Trade & Construction industry is recruiting a Project Engineer to support project delivery in Castle Hills, TX. This role assists the Project Manager and Superintendent with administrative and technical tasks to keep projects on schedule, on budget, and built to specification. Ideal for entry-level to early-career candidates (0–2 years) with engineering or construction management education and hands-on interest in field coordination, submittals, and scheduling.
What You’ll Do
- Assist Project Manager in preparing/reviewing subcontracts and purchase orders to ensure scope accuracy and inclusion of necessary contract provisions.
- Review project drawings, specifications, and contracts; coordinate day-to-day communications with architects, owners, subcontractors, and suppliers.
- Maintain and update submittal logs; track submittals through approvals and final delivery.
- Help develop and maintain overall and short-term project schedules; perform regular site visits and progress inspections.
- Maintain project documentation (transmittals, correspondence, RFIs, submittals, as-built records) so project history is accurate and auditable.
- Support cost tracking and maintain estimated vs. actual cost records to assist billing and change justification.
- Assist with permit expediting and collection of record documents, operation & maintenance manuals, and warranties.
- Prepare and submit daily records, weekly timesheets, and prevailing wage payrolls as required.
- Perform additional tasks as assigned to support efficient project execution.
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Construction Management, or equivalent combination of education and technical training.
- 0–2 years of experience in construction management, construction trades, or related internships/co-op experience.
- Ability to read and accurately interpret construction drawings and specifications.
- Familiarity with submittal workflows, procurement planning, and basic cost-tracking procedures.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills; able to coordinate with multiple project stakeholders.
- Proactive decision-making and ability to escalate issues appropriately.
Skills & Knowledge
- Working knowledge of common office software and project documentation tools.
- Basic math skills (geometry, algebra, trigonometry) applicable to field layout and verification.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Comfortable performing site visits and working around active construction environments.
- Knowledge of company policies/procedures and commitment to safety, quality, and collaboration.
Physical Requirements
- Regularly required to stand, walk, use hands, reach, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, or crouch.
- Occasionally required to sit and perform close visual work.
- Must be able to lift/move up to 50 pounds occasionally.
- Work may involve exposure to loud noise, moving machinery, high/elevated places, fumes, and variable outdoor conditions.
- May require long hours during peak phases of projects.
