Summary
Confidential client is hiring a Project Engineer for a 9–12 month, full-time, entry-level assignment in Atlanta, GA. This hands-on role exposes you to preconstruction, virtual design & construction (VDC/BIM), fabrication, field installation, commissioning, and estimating for mechanical systems (HVAC, piping, plumbing, and building automation). The role is designed to develop your technical skills and position you for advancement into Assistant Project Manager, Engineer, Sales Engineer, or other roles within the organization.
What You’ll Do
- Participate in preconstruction activities and learn estimating fundamentals.
- Support design and virtual construction (BIM coordination) for mechanical systems.
- Create and review mechanical system details (ductwork, mechanical piping, plumbing).
- Coordinate work with customers, trade partners, suppliers, and subcontractors.
- Assist with fabrication workflows and support field installation crews.
- Observe and support start-up and commissioning activities.
- Build working relationships with project managers, field and shop foremen, engineers, and fabrication teams.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, engineering technology, or building construction — or an equivalent business/management degree focused on construction or engineering.
- If a 4-year degree is not held: High school diploma plus a minimum of 5 years’ experience working with plumbing, piping, or HVAC systems (office or field).
- Proficiency with Windows-based PC environments, including word processing, spreadsheets, email, web applications, and basic database tools.

Preferred Qualifications
- Demonstrated interest or experience in the construction or MEP contracting industry.
- Two years of experience managing mechanical work.
- Business acumen and account management experience (handling multiple customers).
- Leadership exposure through training, conferences, or relevant programs.

Working Conditions & Physical Effort
- Work may involve moderate exposure to hot/cold temperatures, dust, and loud noises typical of construction environments.
- Exposure to construction-related hazards requires adherence to safety procedures and PPE.
- Light physical effort: occasional lifting up to ~25 lbs, some standing and walking on job sites.
Compensation & Location
- Location: Atlanta, GA (on-site / field and office mixed).
- Employment type: Full time — 9–12 month entry-level assignment with career-path opportunities.
