Overview
Confidential Client (Engineering) is hiring a Project Engineer 1 to support construction projects across Texas and Oklahoma (multiple markets including Austin, Houston, Dallas, Oklahoma City, Tulsa, San Antonio, and El Paso). This is an entry-level, full-time field role ideal for early-career construction or engineering graduates who want hands-on experience in construction execution, quality, and scheduling while learning company best practices.
What You’ll Do
As a Project Engineer 1 you will support project teams and learn the fundamentals of construction execution. Typical responsibilities include:
- Support day-to-day field execution: monitor crew size, self-perform hours, materials, quantities and equipment.
- Participate in punch lists, city inspections, safety and quality reviews; prepare required documentation.
- Post and maintain up-to-date drawings and specifications.
- Prepare and distribute meeting minutes and other project communications.
- Create and update procurement logs, track shop drawings and follow up on deliveries.
- Prepare reports: daily reports, weekly progress, manpower, percent complete, production schedules and equipment tracking.
- Assist with estimating basics, change-management workflows and quantity take-offs.
- Perform periodic site observations with project leadership and support project closeout (O&M manuals, as-builts, punch list).
- Learn and apply Lean practices and company construction fundamentals.
- Build relationships with trades, foremen, superintendents, subcontractors and project teammates.
Who You Are / Key Skills
You’ll be successful in this role if you demonstrate:
- Strong communication skills — verbal and written.
- Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Ability to perform work accurately, completely and on time.
- Basic knowledge of construction means & methods and trade scopes.
- Familiarity or willingness to learn Lean principles and construction technology.
- Ability to assess and help optimize project productivity.
- Team player mindset and ability to build collaborative relationships on site.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, or related field — OR equivalent relevant experience.
- Entry-level construction experience preferred (internships, co-op, or site exposure acceptable).
- Able to lift up to 50 pounds and perform frequent physical activity (standing, walking, climbing, bending).
- Willingness to travel and work non-traditional hours as project needs require.
Compensation & Benefits
- Estimated annual salary (source posting): $105,472 per year (estimated).
