Role Overview

Confidential Client is hiring a Project Engineer 1 to support construction and field execution across projects in Texas and Oklahoma. This entry-level, full-time role provides hands-on exposure to construction management fundamentals, quality and safety processes, scheduling support, procurement tracking, and closeout activities. This position is designed as a development role with a clear career path toward Project Engineer 2.

What You’ll Do

  • Learn and apply site safety and quality practices; contribute to an injury-free jobsite culture
  • Support QA/QC planning and participate in inspections and quality reviews
  • Assist with quantity take-offs, change management, and review of subcontractor proposals
  • Monitor daily field activity: crew sizes, self-perform hours, materials, equipment, and productivity
  • Prepare and post updated drawings and specifications; maintain accurate documentation
  • Create and maintain procurement logs, track shop drawings, and follow up on deliveries
  • Generate and contribute to reports: daily reports, weekly progress, manpower, percent complete, equipment tracking, and production schedules
  • Participate in punch lists, city inspections, scheduling updates, and project closeout (as-built, O&M manuals)
  • Build collaborative relationships with foremen, superintendents, subcontractors, and tradespeople
  • Learn and adopt Lean practices and company-standard construction techniques
  • Identify and learn to integrate self-perform opportunities into project scopes

What We’re Looking For

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work accurately, meet deadlines, and manage assigned tasks independently with appropriate escalation
  • Proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook); willingness to learn project tools and construction technology
  • Basic understanding of construction means, methods, and productivity concepts
  • Interest in Lean processes and continuous improvement
  • Ability to build working relationships on-site and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams
  • Comfortable with physical jobsite activity and variable hours

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field, OR equivalent relevant experience
  • Entry-level construction experience (internships, co-ops, field assignments) is acceptable and encouraged
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and perform frequent physical activity (standing, walking, climbing, bending, reaching above shoulder, pushing, pulling)
  • May require travel and occasional non-traditional hours to meet project needs
