Role Summary

Confidential Client is hiring an entry-level Project Engineer (Project Engineer 1) to support construction and field execution activities on active projects in Minneapolis, MN. This role is a hands-on, learning-focused position that provides exposure to estimating, QA/QC, scheduling, site coordination, procurement tracking, and project closeout tasks. This is a FULL_TIME opportunity. Estimated salary (from source): $94,485 per year (estimated).


What You’ll Do

  • Support day-to-day field and construction management tasks on assigned projects
  • Participate in safety and quality planning and demonstrate commitment to an injury-free environment
  • Assist with quantity take-offs, review subcontractor proposals, and learn change-management processes
  • Monitor crew size, self-perform hours, materials, equipment and site productivity metrics
  • Help prepare and post current drawings and specifications
  • Participate in punch lists, city inspections, safety and quality reviews; prepare associated documentation
  • Prepare reports: daily logs, weekly progress, manpower reports, percentage complete, equipment tracking, etc.
  • Track shop drawings, create procurement logs, and follow up on deliveries per project schedule
  • Support project scheduling updates and progress reporting to the project team
  • Assist with closeout activities (punch lists, O&M manuals, as-built drawings)
  • Build relationships and collaborate with foremen, superintendents, subcontractors and project team members
  • Learn and apply Lean practices and company construction best practices
  • Perform periodic job site observations with project leadership

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Ability to perform work accurately, completely, and on time
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficiency with MS Office applications
  • Basic knowledge of Lean process and construction technologies
  • Understanding of construction trades, scopes of work, and self-perform productivity
  • Ability to assess and help optimize project productivity
  • Team-oriented with strong interpersonal and collaboration skills

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, or a related field preferred
  • Equivalent relevant experience will be considered in lieu of degree
  • Entry-level construction experience required (new grads welcome)

Working Conditions & Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds
  • May require travel and/or relocation based on project needs
  • May require non-traditional hours to meet project schedules
  • Possible exposure to extreme hot/cold conditions
  • Frequent activity: standing, walking, climbing, bending, reaching above shoulder, pushing, pulling
  • Occasional activity: sitting and computer work
