Role Overview
Confidential Client is seeking an entry-level Project Engineer 1 to support construction project delivery in Holy, CA. This hands-on role focuses on field execution, construction management fundamentals, QA/QC support, estimating basics, and closeout activities. This position is ideal for early-career candidates who want structured learning, mentorship, and exposure to full-project lifecycle activities in an engineering/construction environment.
Responsibilities
- Support on-site project execution and daily field activities to help meet schedule and quality goals.
- Assist with punch lists, city inspections, safety and quality reviews, and required documentation.
- Participate in QA/QC planning and follow best-practice standards for construction techniques.
- Support change management and basic estimating tasks (quantity take-offs, review subcontractor proposals).
- Post and maintain current drawings and specifications; track shop drawings and delivery follow-ups.
- Prepare and contribute to reports: daily logs, weekly progress updates, manpower and productivity reports, equipment tracking, and percentage complete.
- Create procurement logs and coordinate with the project team to support scheduling and deliveries.
- Assist with project closeout tasks, including O&M manuals and as-built documentation.
- Build relationships with trades, foremen, superintendents, and subcontractors; communicate status updates to the project team.
- Learn and apply Lean construction practices and identify self-perform opportunities under guidance.
- Perform periodic site observations with project leadership and support production/productivity assessments.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, or a related field — OR equivalent relevant experience.
- Entry-level construction experience or internships on construction projects.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook); comfort learning project tools and construction technology.
- Familiarity or willingness to learn Lean process and construction productivity principles.
- Demonstrated ability to work accurately, manage time, and follow instructions.
- Ability to build collaborative working relationships with internal teams and external trades.
Preferred / Helpful Skills
- Basic estimating or quantity take-off exposure.
- Experience or knowledge of self-perform scopes and labor productivity tracking.
- Previous experience producing daily reports, progress updates, or equipment logs.
- Comfort attending and documenting project meetings.
Working Conditions & Physical Requirements
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Frequent periods of standing, walking, climbing, bending, reaching above shoulder, pushing and pulling.
- May require travel and/or temporary relocation to project sites.
- Willingness to work non-traditional hours when project needs demand.
- May be exposed to extreme weather conditions (hot or cold).
Compensation & Benefits
- Base salary range (Holy, CA): $91,000 — $114,000 per year, depending on experience.
- Eligible for a target bonus based on individual and company performance.
- Benefits package: Professional Non-Union (details provided by the hiring organization).
