Role Overview

Confidential Client is hiring an entry-level Project Engineer 1 to support construction and field execution across Texas and Oklahoma locations (primary market: Austin, TX). This role helps deliver construction fundamentals, supports self-perform activities, and learns company best practices for quality, safety, scheduling and procurement.

• Estimated pay: $130,830 per year (estimated)

What You’ll Do

• Support on-site project engineering tasks, including monitoring crew size, materials, equipment and self-perform hours
• Assist with punch lists, city inspections, safety and quality reviews and required documentation
• Post and maintain current drawings and specifications
• Prepare and contribute to project reports: daily reports, weekly progress, manpower, production schedules and equipment tracking
• Create and maintain procurement logs, track shop drawings and follow up on deliveries
• Provide progress updates to support scheduling and closeout activities (O&M manuals, as-built drawings, punch lists)
• Participate in QA/QC planning and learn estimating/change management fundamentals (quantity take-offs, subcontractor proposal review)
• Build strong working relationships with foremen, superintendents, subcontractors and trade personnel
• Learn and apply Lean construction practices and identify self-perform opportunities

• Follow and promote site safety and quality culture; demonstrate commitment to an injury-free environment
• Support project leadership with jobsite observations and required documentation
• Organize and participate in project meetings and distribute follow-up materials
• Use company standards and construction fundamentals to execute assigned tasks
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand how each function contributes to project success

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering or related field — or equivalent relevant experience
• Entry-level construction experience
• Proficiency in MS Office
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Knowledge (or willingness to learn) of:
  • Construction means & methods and self-perform scopes
  • Lean process and construction technology
  • Basic estimating and change management principles
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work non-traditional hours when required
• Willingness to travel or relocate as project needs dictate

• Frequent physical activity: standing, walking, climbing, bending, reaching above shoulder level, pushing, pulling
• Occasional computer-based tasks and sitting
• May be exposed to extreme temperatures (hot or cold)
• May require periodic travel and flexibility in schedule to meet project needs
