Role summary

This opportunity is for a Project Engineer 1 working on construction projects in Atlanta, GA. The Project Engineer 1 will support on-site construction and field execution activities using construction fundamentals, company best practices, and project-management tools. This is an entry-level, full-time role on a path toward Project Engineer 2 and is ideal for candidates with a degree in construction management, engineering, or equivalent experience who want hands-on construction and project-management experience.


What you’ll do (Core responsibilities)

  • Learn and actively participate in safety and quality plans to support an injury-free work environment.
  • Support QA/QC planning and execute assigned quality tasks.
  • Assist with estimating and change management activities, including quantity take-offs and subcontractor proposal review.
  • Work on-site with project teams to monitor crew size, self-perform hours, materials, quantities, and equipment.
  • Participate in punch lists, city inspections, safety reviews, and quality checks; prepare required documentation.
  • Post and maintain current drawings and specifications.
  • Organize and participate in project meetings; prepare and distribute meeting materials and reports.
  • Prepare project daily reports, weekly progress updates, manpower logs, production schedules, equipment tracking, and percentage-complete reporting as directed.
  • Perform periodic job-site observations with project leadership.
  • Create and maintain procurement logs; track shop drawings and deliveries per the project schedule.
  • Provide progress updates to support scheduling and help close out project deliverables (punch list, O&M manuals, as-builts).
  • Apply company best-practice building and construction techniques and begin identifying self-perform opportunities.
  • Build relationships and communicate effectively with trade personnel, foremen, superintendents, subcontractors, and project team members.
  • Learn and apply Lean construction principles in daily work.

Knowledge, skills & abilities

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to perform work accurately, completely, and on time.
  • Proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook); familiarity with construction technologies is a plus.
  • Understanding of construction means & methods, labor productivity, and trade scopes.
  • Basic estimating and change-management awareness.
  • Ability to assess and help optimize project productivity.
  • Teamwork and relationship-building skills across trades and project stakeholders.
  • Willingness to learn Lean processes and continuous improvement approaches.

Education & experience

  • Bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering, or a related field; OR equivalent relevant experience will be considered.
  • Entry-level construction experience required or internship/co-op experience preferred.

Working environment & physical requirements

  • Full-time, on-site construction environment in Atlanta, GA.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • May require periods of travel and/or relocation.
  • Must be willing to work non-traditional hours to meet project needs.
  • May be exposed to extreme conditions (hot or cold).
  • Frequent activity: standing, walking, climbing, bending, reaching above shoulder, pushing, pulling.
  • Occasional activity: sitting and computer work.
