What You’ll Do

Confidential Client is seeking a detail-oriented Project Accountant to support the financial administration of multiple projects from billing through payment. This is an excellent entry-level opportunity to build hands-on project accounting experience in a project-driven environment.

You will:

  • Prepare and process recurring project billings in accordance with contractual and customer requirements
  • Review project information and supporting documentation to ensure invoices are complete and accurate
  • Track billing schedules and coordinate with project teams to meet monthly deadlines
  • Monitor outstanding accounts receivable and follow up on past‑due balances
  • Communicate professionally with customers regarding invoice questions and payment status
  • Enter, code, and process project-related invoices in accounting systems
  • Review vendor invoices and statements and research discrepancies as needed
  • Coordinate invoice approvals and ensure costs are assigned to the appropriate projects and accounts
  • Obtain and review lien waivers and required documentation during the billing/payment process
  • Maintain organized project accounting records and supporting documentation
  • Assist with cash application and reconciliation of customer accounts as needed
  • Research billing and payment discrepancies and work with internal/external partners to resolve items
  • Partner with project managers and accounting team members to maintain accurate project financial information
  • Assist with month-end activities and project-related reconciliations
  • Support project reporting and provide billing/receivable information as requested
  • Identify opportunities to improve billing, documentation, and accounting processes
  • Assist with additional accounting responsibilities and special projects as your experience develops

What We’re Looking For

The ideal candidate will demonstrate accuracy, follow-through, and a willingness to learn project accounting processes.

Preferred qualifications and skills:

  • Bachelor’s or associate degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field preferred
  • Previous accounting, billing, accounts receivable, accounts payable, or internship experience is a plus but not required
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accurate financial records
  • Comfortable working with numbers, invoices, and detailed project documentation
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects and recurring deadlines
  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills to research discrepancies
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and ability to learn accounting/project management systems
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for interacting with customers, vendors, and internal teams
  • Self-motivated, dependable, and willing to ask questions and learn new processes
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a deadline-driven environment
  • Interest in developing broader project accounting and financial management experience

Compensation & Location

  • Salary range: $55,000–$70,000 per year
  • Location: Saint Francis, WI, USA
  • Employment type: Full-time (typical for this role)
  • This role may be eligible for company-sponsored benefits, subject to program rules
