Position Overview
Confidential Client is seeking an entry-level Program Eligibility Specialist I to review applications, verify information, and determine eligibility for state-administered assistance programs. This role balances case processing, customer service, data entry, and compliance with state and federal regulations.

Salary range: $47,397 - $70,148 per year (provided by client)
What You’ll Do
- Review and process applications for public assistance programs according to established policies and procedures.
- Verify applicant information (income, assets, residency, household composition) using documents and system checks.
- Maintain accurate, up-to-date case records to support eligibility decisions and audits.
- Communicate clearly and professionally with applicants about eligibility requirements, application status, and next steps.
- Request and follow up on required documentation to complete determinations in a timely manner.
- Monitor ongoing eligibility and renewals; update case files as needed.
- Identify discrepancies or inconsistent information and escalate complex cases per policy.
- Prepare routine reports and summaries for supervisors and internal reviews.
- Protect confidentiality of sensitive applicant data in accordance with state privacy laws.
Who You Are / Minimum Qualifications
- At least 1 year of experience in customer service, administrative support, case processing, or a closely related field.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple cases and deadlines.
- Comfortable using basic computer applications and case management systems; accurate keyboarding/data entry skills.
- Clear verbal and written communication skills and a service-oriented attitude.

Preferred Qualifications
- Formal education equivalent to a bachelor’s degree in psychology, sociology, or a related field.
- Relevant public assistance or human services experience.
- Experience explaining policy and complex program rules to applicants in plain language.
- Prior experience maintaining case documentation in a government or social services setting.

- Ability to interpret and apply program rules consistently and accurately.
- Strong organizational and prioritization abilities.
- Problem-solving skills to analyze application issues and identify solutions.
- Ability to prepare and present clear oral and written information and reports.

Compensation & Benefits
- Salary range (provided by client): $47,397 - $70,148 per year.
