Production Operations Analyst — Overview

Confidential Client is hiring a Production Operations Analyst in Yalesville, CT to support production planning, inventory control, and reporting in a fast-growing food & beverage manufacturing (bakery) environment. This is an excellent entry-level opportunity for a detail-oriented, systems-minded candidate who wants to become the in-house expert on BatchMaster (MRP/ERP), use AI tools to simplify reporting, and grow into production planning and supply chain analytics.

What You’ll Do

  • Own day-to-day BatchMaster MRP activities as the primary system user and internal point of contact.
  • Create, schedule, release, and close production batches and work orders in BatchMaster aligned with the daily production plan.
  • Record production output, ingredient consumption, yields, and waste accurately and on time.
  • Process inventory transactions including receipts, transfers, adjustments, and shipments to stores.
  • Maintain master data (items, formulas/recipes, bills of material, units of measure, vendor records) with Senior Manager oversight.
  • Reconcile system inventory to physical counts; support cycle counts and month-end inventory close; research and resolve variances.
  • Maintain lot tracking and traceability records to meet food safety standards and recall readiness.
  • Troubleshoot user issues, liaise with BatchMaster support, and escalate system problems as needed.
  • Create and maintain BatchMaster SOPs and job aids; train production team members on system processes.
  • Support rollout, testing, and configuration changes for BatchMaster as business needs evolve.
  • Assist with the daily reorder process: review inventory levels, usage, open orders, and forecasts to recommend order quantities.
  • Prepare and submit purchase orders based on approved par levels and reorder points; confirm acknowledgments and delivery dates.
  • Track open purchase orders, follow up on late/short/incorrect deliveries, and communicate impacts to production and store teams.
  • Maintain par levels, reorder points, vendor lead times, and minimum order quantities as volumes and store counts change.
  • Match receipts to purchase orders and support invoice reconciliation with Accounting.
  • Produce daily and weekly reports on production output, inventory on hand, usage, yield, waste, and order status.
  • Build and maintain trackers, spreadsheets, and dashboards (Excel/Google Sheets); use AI tools to simplify reporting and provide actionable, real-time insights.
  • Analyze trends in usage, yield, and waste to identify cost-saving and accuracy improvements.
  • Partner cross-functionally with Production, Warehouse & Logistics, Store Operations, Culinary, and Finance to keep information flowing and orders on track.
  • Document processes and recommend improvements that increase accuracy, efficiency, and scalability.

Who You Are (Qualifications)

  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, operations, business, analytics, or a related field preferred — or equivalent work experience.
  • 0–2 years’ experience in production planning, inventory control, purchasing, supply chain, or data analysis; food & beverage manufacturing, commissary, bakery, or QSR experience is a plus.
  • Comfortable building simple AI interfaces and using AI-assisted tools for analysis and reporting.
  • Experience with an ERP, MRP, or inventory management system (BatchMaster, NetSuite, SAP, or similar) is a plus and a strong interest in becoming the in-house BatchMaster expert.
  • Proficiency in Excel or Google Sheets (pivot tables, lookups, basic formulas).
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accurate data entry and record keeping.
  • Analytical mindset: able to spot trends, identify discrepancies, and translate data into clear recommendations.
  • Strong organization and time-management skills to meet recurring daily deadlines and manage multiple priorities.
  • Problem solver with curiosity and persistence to find root causes of inventory and system issues.
  • Clear verbal and written communication skills for interacting with internal teams and vendors.

  • Passion for operations, emerging brands, and quality in a manufacturing/food environment.

  • Regular walking of production and warehouse areas, including cold storage environments.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally (ingredient cases, supplies, inventory counts).
  • Must be able to communicate clearly in person and via digital channels.
  • Minimal travel required; occasional visits to production facilities, vendors, or stores.
  • Work environment is a mix of office and production; early morning, evening, or weekend work may be required to support production schedules, inventory counts, or month-end close.
