Role overview

Confidential client is seeking a Product Support Engineer to join a sustainment-focused engineering team supporting complex electromechanical systems in the defense/aerospace space. This contract-to-hire position (Mendota Heights / Saint Paul area, MN) will influence maintainability and lifecycle cost, develop and validate technical publications, and define provisioning and sustainment strategies across program lifecycles.

This posting includes a visible hourly range: $30 - $55 / hr. Candidates must be U.S. Persons (ITAR compliance required).


What You’ll Do

  • Perform logistics and sustainment analyses to define spares, provisioning, and maintenance strategies.
  • Influence system and component design for maintainability, reliability, and lifecycle cost efficiency.
  • Develop, review, and maintain CDRLs, provisioning files, and logistics support documentation.
  • Collaborate with engineering, technical publications, and cross-functional teams to ensure data integrity.
  • Monitor and mitigate obsolescence risks (DMSMS) over program lifecycles.
  • Validate technical publications and Interactive Electronic Technical Manuals (IETM) for accuracy and usability.
  • Provide inputs for supportability and reliability analyses (LORA, FMECA, MTBF/MTTR, RAM).
  • Prepare sustainment metrics, dashboards, and lifecycle sustainment plans.
  • Support technical writers and illustrators to produce accurate maintenance manuals and procedures.
  • Participate in provisioning conferences, RCM reviews, and customer sustainment discussions.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Physics, or a related technical field.
  • Open to entry-level candidates with engineering backgrounds; typical experience ranges:
    • Entry: 0–3 years
    • Senior: 3–7 years
    • Principal: 8–12+ years
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and data-analysis skills; mechanical aptitude highly valued.
  • Experience with technical documentation review, provisioning data, sustainment planning, and developing procedures in secure/controlled environments.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and collaboration platforms (SharePoint, Teams).
  • Prior technical customer-facing experience is a plus.
  • U.S. Person status required (ITAR compliance).
  • Defense, aerospace, or related industry experience preferred.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Hourly range: $30 - $55 / hour (Contract to Hire)
