Product Engineer

Role & Impact
This entry-level Product Engineer role supports product quality, validation and problem resolution for powertrain products. You will investigate failures, lead root-cause activities, recommend corrective actions, and coordinate with manufacturing, suppliers, service and customer teams to drive solutions that meet product and customer expectations.
Key Responsibilities
- Investigate product issues and lead root-cause analysis using structured problem-solving (e.g., 7-step problem solving, FIRG).
- Execute processes in Product Preceding Technology (PPT), Value Package Introduction (VPI) and Current Product Support (CPS).
- Create and review engineering documents: drawings, BOMs, test instructions and specifications.
- Develop and execute verification and validation plans; interpret simulation, analysis and physical test results.
- Support product configuration and change management; track and communicate design changes across stakeholders.
- Coordinate cross-functional design reviews and integrate stakeholder input into product decisions.
- Apply statistical methods (DOE, regression, ANOVA) and data analysis to support engineering conclusions.
- Work with technicians, student employees or temporary staff to execute test and analysis tasks as needed.
Core Competencies & Technical Skills
- Statistical analysis and design of experiments (DOE).
- Systems thinking; requirements decomposition and interface management.
- Mechanical system design and mechanical design specification (solid models, drawings, BOMs).
- Product verification, validation and failure-mode avoidance.
- Familiarity with open/closed loop control concepts and interactions between hardware and software.
- Product function modeling, simulation and interpretation of test results.
- Strong technical documentation and cross-functional communication skills.
- Proficient with MS Office tools; experience with engineering tools and PLM processes is a plus.
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or another STEM discipline is required.
- Entry-level / early career: designed for candidates within ~2 years of completing their highest degree.
- Preferred: internship, co-op or project experience in product development, testing, or manufacturing support.
- This role may require export-control or sanctions compliance licensing.
Location, Employment Type & Compensation
- Location: Clifford / Columbus area, IN (postal code 47202). On-site with some flexibility as required by the product work.
- Employment Type: Full-time, exempt — Entry Level.
- Salary range (provided by client): $67,200 — $100,800 per year (estimated).
- Relocation: relocation package offered (per source).
