What You’ll Do
The Product Design Engineer I (Transmission) is an entry-level engineering role supporting product design, drafting, and testing under the guidance of experienced engineers. You will learn and apply drafting and production processes while contributing to 3D CAD model creation, 2D drawings, specifications, and BOMs.
- Work on projects assigned or directed by more experienced engineers.
- Design, draft and model new and existing transmission-related products using AutoCAD and SolidWorks.
- Create 3D models, 2D drawings, specifications, and Bills of Materials.
- Provide technical support to manufacturing and field installation teams.
- Build and test prototypes and working samples for demonstration.
- Begin performing supervised lab tests and learn applicable ANSI standards.
- Support process and drawing revisions using Value Improvement (VIP) systems.
- Improve usability of new and existing products and document design changes.
Qualifications
Minimum requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field.
- 0–2 years of related engineering experience (entry-level welcome).
- Demonstrated proficiency with AutoCAD and SolidWorks / 3D CAD tools.
- Strong hands-on mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
Preferred qualifications:
- Experience with high-voltage switchgear or transmission-related products.
- Internship or co-op experience in a utility/engineering environment.
- Familiarity with FEA (finite element analysis) tools and basic structural analysis.
