What You’ll Do

The Confidential Client is looking for an entry-level Product Design Engineer (Transmission) to join their engineering team in Hampton, GA. You’ll work under experienced engineers to learn and apply drafting and production processes while contributing to real product designs and manufacturing support.

  • Work on assigned projects under the direction of senior engineers
  • Design, draft and model parts and assemblies using AutoCAD and SolidWorks
  • Create 3D models, 2D drawings, specifications and Bills of Material (BOM)
  • Support manufacturing and field installation with technical documentation and troubleshooting
  • Build working samples and prototypes for validation and demonstrations
  • Perform basic lab tests under supervision and learn applicable ANSI standards
  • Participate in Value Improvement (VIP) Systems to revise processes, documents and drawings
  • Improve usability and manufacturability of new and existing products

Who You Are

Minimum qualifications for a strong candidate:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or related field
  • 0–2 years of related engineering experience (entry-level)
  • Demonstrated proficiency with AutoCAD and SolidWorks
  • Strong hands-on mechanical aptitude and problem-solving ability
  • Comfortable learning test procedures and working under supervision in an engineering lab

Preferred Qualifications

Nice-to-have skills that will help you stand out:

  • Experience with high-voltage switch or transmission equipment
  • Previous co-op or internship with Southern States or similar firms
  • Familiarity with FEA/computer analysis tools
