Responsibilities

The sections below summarize the core duties for this entry-level Product Design Engineer role supporting sustaining and product work for a confidential client.

  • Work on projects assigned or directed by more experienced engineers.
  • Design, draft and model existing and new products using AutoCAD and SolidWorks.
  • Create 3D models, 2D drawings, specifications and Bills of Materials.
  • Provide technical support to manufacturing and field installation teams.
  • Build demonstration samples and prototypes to validate designs.
  • Improve usability of new and existing products through iterative design.
  • Revise processes, documents and drawings through Value Improvement (VIP) systems.
  • Assist with supervised testing in the engineering lab and learn applicable ANSI standards.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or closely related field.
  • 0–2 years of related engineering experience (entry-level).
  • Demonstrated proficiency in AutoCAD and SolidWorks.
  • Strong hands-on mechanical aptitude.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills and ability to work on a team.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with high-voltage switchgear or power distribution equipment.
  • Prior co-op, internship, or work experience in electrical equipment manufacturing.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with FEA (finite element analysis) tools.
  • Familiarity with engineering training procedures and lab testing.

Skills & Tools

  • AutoCAD
  • SolidWorks (3D modeling & 2D drawing)
  • Bill of Materials creation and specification writing
  • Basic FEA tools (preferred)
  • Hands-on prototyping and test support

Compensation (Estimated)

  • Estimated base salary: $100,889 per year (estimated).
