Role Overview
Careertakes is recruiting on behalf of a confidential client in the Engineering industry for a Product Design Engineer I — Sustaining role based in Hampton, GA. This is an entry-level engineering position supporting drafting and production processes under the supervision of experienced engineers. The role includes standard computations, analysis, and 3D CAD design work. Employment may be offered as Contract or Full-Time.
What You’ll Do
- Work on projects assigned or directed by more experienced engineers
- Design, draft and model products using AutoCAD and SolidWorks
- Create 3D models, 2D drawings, specifications, and Bills of Materials
- Provide technical support to manufacturing and field installation teams
- Develop engineering skills according to internal engineering training procedures
- Build prototype samples and working models for demonstration and testing
- Improve usability of new and existing products through iterative design
- Revise processes, documents and drawings through Value Improvement (VIP) systems
- Assist in lab testing under supervision and learn applicable ANSI standards
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or a related field
- 0–2 years of related work experience (entry-level)
- Demonstrated proficiency with AutoCAD and SolidWorks
- Strong hands-on mechanical aptitude
- Authorization to work in the U.S.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with high-voltage switch design or related equipment
- Internship or co-op experience in product design or with Southern States (or similar)
- Demonstrated proficiency in FEA computer analysis
Compensation & Location
- Estimated pay: $98,311 per year (estimated)
- Employment type: Contract and/or Full-Time (as offered by the confidential client)
- Location: Hampton, GA — on-site work expected
