Overview
Confidential Client is seeking a detail-oriented Procurement Specialist to support purchasing and supplier management for projects and operations. This is a contract role based in Walker, LA. The role is well suited to entry-level candidates or those with internship/co-op experience who are eager to build a career in procurement and supply chain.
What You’ll Do
- Prepare and process purchase requisitions and purchase orders for materials, equipment, products, and services
- Research suppliers and obtain quotations based on project and business requirements
- Assist with evaluating suppliers on price, quality, availability, delivery, and overall value
- Communicate with suppliers about pricing, availability, and delivery schedules
- Monitor purchase orders to ensure on‑time, accurate delivery of materials and services
- Maintain accurate purchasing records (purchase orders, supplier contacts, pricing, delivery information)
- Research market conditions, pricing trends, and material availability to support purchasing decisions
- Support negotiations for pricing, delivery schedules, and commercial terms with suppliers
- Review supplier documentation for compliance with company policies and procedures
- Assist with resolving vendor issues (delivery delays, quality concerns, pricing discrepancies, invoice questions)
- Source alternative materials, products, and suppliers when needed
- Participate in bid evaluations, bid awards, and procurement documentation as required
- Prepare purchasing reports and procurement-related documentation
- Work cross-functionally with project teams, accounting, operations, and other departments to meet purchasing needs
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Procurement, Finance, or a related field preferred
- Previous internship, co-op, or work experience in procurement, purchasing, materials management, or supply chain preferred but not required
- Entry-level candidates with strong interest in procurement and supply chain are encouraged to apply
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office — especially Excel and Outlook
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Clear verbal and written communication skills for supplier and internal stakeholder interactions
- Ability to learn and apply company policies, purchasing processes, and compliance requirements
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, project-driven environment
Preferred / Nice-to-Have
- Experience with procurement or ERP systems
- Basic negotiation or supplier evaluation exposure
- Familiarity with purchase order lifecycle and vendor management
Compensation & Logistics
- Location: Walker, LA (Livingston County) — on-site or hybrid as required by the Confidential Client
- Employment type: Contract
- Estimated salary: $42,989 per year (estimated; shown in source)
