Role overview
The Process Engineer (Jr) will support manufacturing operations at a confidential client manufacturing facility in Cleveland, OH. This early-career engineering role focuses on ensuring product quality and production flow, driving process improvements, supporting QC lab activities, and contributing to capital and preventative maintenance planning. The position uses data, SAP, and continuous improvement methods to optimize batch and web processes and improve site metrics and KPIs.
What you’ll do
- Analyze statistical data and product specifications to set quality and reliability objectives for finished products.
- Participate in plant metric reporting and help develop site KPIs.
- Coordinate quality control activities to resolve production problems, maximize product consistency, and minimize cost.
- Estimate production costs and prepare production progress reports for management.
- Design measurement and control approaches for chemical and coating processes using lab and pilot data.
- Use SAP to monitor production and related business functions.
- Recommend and document modifications to processes and equipment; follow up on implementation.
- Collaborate with plant engineers and maintenance to influence preventative maintenance best practices.
- Provide technical and operational guidance for equipment and facility maintenance and capital projects.
- Apply disciplined project management to product/process development initiatives.
- Review batch first-pass yield, scrap, returns, and other quality data regularly.
- Troubleshoot batch and raw material issues and help investigate equipment failures.
- Interface with operators, maintenance, and leadership to enable continuous improvement and uninterrupted production.
- Help develop standard work instructions / SOPs and visual controls.
- Support a high-performance safety and compliance culture; perform work in accordance with Confidential Client safety policies.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
- 1+ years of engineering or relevant manufacturing experience (relevant internships qualify).
- Hands-on experience with continuous web and batch process equipment.
- Practical experience using SAP, Excel, and standard office tools.
- Knowledge of statistics, continuous improvement (Lean/Six Sigma concepts), ISO procedures, and quality systems.
- Proven ability to build relationships at all levels of a plant and to work cross-functionally.
- Experience creating standard work instructions / SOPs.
- Strong problem-solving, written/verbal communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to manage competing priorities and make decisions to keep projects moving.
- Self-motivated, team-oriented, and focused on delivering results.
- Familiarity with safety, environmental, SOX, and workplace regulations is a plus.

Compensation & benefits
- Estimated base salary: $69,450 per year (estimated).
