What You’ll Do

This entry-level Process Engineer I role supports manufacturing process transfer, startup, and continuous improvement for a Confidential Client's production operations in Pella, IA. You will work on assigned engineering projects across planning, installation, and startup phases to meet quality, schedule, and cost objectives.

  • Support process transfer, modification, procurement, installation, and start-up at supplier sites and on-site.
  • Prepare project schedules, review and compile cost estimates, and document equipment and materials needs.
  • Write appropriation and project requests and communicate technical information to cross-functional teams.
  • Apply the client’s project management, safety, continuous improvement, and quality systems during execution.
  • Investigate process problems, develop practical solutions, and recommend cost- and personnel-aware improvements.
  • Present project updates, defend technical positions, and drive execution through collaboration with manufacturing, product development, and vendor teams.

Responsibilities

  • Work on assigned projects and tasks under supervision; expected to operate within a team environment.
  • Act primarily as an individual contributor; may, on occasion, coordinate or supervise non-exempt or hourly employees during projects.
  • Use judgment to apply standard engineering techniques and adapt approaches as needed for project variables.
  • Apply safe operating procedures around machinery; occasional lifting up to 30 lbs and exposure to noisy environments.
  • Travel as required (estimated 5%–40%) depending on role and project assignments.
  • Maintain documentation and handoffs required for manufacturing transfers and startups.

Required Skills & Tools

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications.
  • AutoCAD required; Microsoft Project preferred.
  • Developing competency across multiple engineering disciplines and manufacturing technologies.
  • Strong written and verbal communication; able to present technical information clearly.
  • Collaboration and stakeholder management skills to prioritize and drive project implementation.
  • Familiarity with continuous improvement methods; CI/2P leader certification or equivalent is desirable.

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Mathematics, or relevant science, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience: Entry level — typically 1–3 years combined engineering experience. Previous co-op or internship experience preferred.
  • Certifications: CI / 2P Leader Certification (or equivalent) preferred.
  • Leadership competencies: apply technical expertise, manage and improve processes, foster collaboration, build relationships, and drive execution.
