What You’ll Do
The Entry-Level Process Engineer (Process Engineer I) will support process design and engineering for manufacturing facilities and equipment, with a focus on facility infrastructure and critical utility systems. You will execute basic engineering calculations (e.g., heat transfer, pressure drop), document process design scope, coordinate with other disciplines, and may assist with field installation and construction observations.

Key Responsibilities
- Support documentation of the process design scope in coordination with other disciplines
- Assist in development of Block and Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs) and Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs)
- Produce equipment lists, equipment general arrangements and equipment datasheets
- Create utility summaries and user requirements specifications
- Execute basic engineering calculations and sizing under supervision (heat transfer, pressure drop, material & energy balances)
- Work closely with architects, engineers and designers to ensure coordinated, constructible designs
- Support construction site observations and field teams as needed
- Manage time effectively across one or more projects and self-check work while communicating with supervisors and peers
Qualifications
- ABET-accredited Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Chemical, or Bioprocess Engineering
- 0–3 years of experience in a design firm setting (entry-level)
- Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam registration or completion preferred
- Proficient with Microsoft Office
Preferred Qualifications
- Basic experience performing engineering calculations and discipline system design tasks
- Familiarity with chemistry/biochemistry fundamentals
- Experience with process modeling, material & energy balances, and basic sizing calculations
- Understanding of fluid mechanics, hydraulic modeling and fundamental heat transfer
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and familiarity with engineering software for process modeling and calculations
- Strong communication skills and ability to coordinate across multi-discipline project teams
- Able to work under direction of senior engineers and follow established procedures
