Role Overview

Confidential Client is hiring a Process Engineer to support manufacturing operations at their Canton, NY facility. This is a full-time, onsite role (standard Monday–Friday schedule, approximately 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.) with occasional additional hours as business needs require. Limited travel (about 5–10%) may be necessary for meetings, training, or supplier/customer visits.

The Process Engineer will work on the plant floor supporting advanced glass and materials manufacturing for semiconductor, aerospace, and defense applications. You will partner with production, maintenance, and engineering team members to drive stable, efficient, and continuously improving processes. Success in this role comes from applying engineering fundamentals, analyzing process data, supporting process launches, and clearly communicating recommendations in a union manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Support process improvement initiatives to improve yield, quality, cost, and manufacturing performance
• Monitor process performance; identify trends, issues, and opportunities for improvement
• Apply structured problem-solving methods (with guidance) to investigate process upsets and implement corrective actions
• Assist with new product/process launches, raw material changes, and equipment design modifications
• Collect, analyze, and interpret process data to support action plans and technical recommendations
• Partner with production, maintenance, and engineering to troubleshoot daily manufacturing issues
• Develop process understanding through direct floor support, data analysis, and collaboration with experienced team members
• Provide technical support for plant projects and initiatives aligned with business objectives

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in ceramic, materials, chemical, or related engineering field
• 0–2 years of relevant experience (technical role, manufacturing internship/co-op, research, or process engineering)
• Strong problem-solving skills and clear technical communication
• Demonstrated ability or interest in working in a production/manufacturing environment
• Ability to learn quickly, adapt to changing priorities, and work collaboratively on teams
• U.S. citizenship required (to comply with government contract requirements at this location)

Preferred Qualifications

• Internship, co-op, or hands-on engineering experience in manufacturing, materials, or process development
• Exposure to structured problem-solving methodologies (DMAIC, Kepner-Tregoe, scientific method)
• Experience with basic data analysis and interpretation to support engineering decisions
• Comfortable working with hourly production employees in a union setting

Compensation & Benefits

• Salary range (posted): $70,776.00 – $97,317.00 per year (full-time). Starting pay depends on factors such as geography, experience, training, and education.
