What You’ll Do

Confidential Client is seeking a motivated Probation Officer to support the Family Division. This role combines case management, court presentation, and direct client contact to help families navigate judicial processes and access resources.

  • Conduct pre- and post-hearing client interviews to collect case facts and identify needs
  • Prepare clear, professional reports and case summaries for court
  • Draft formal complaints, applications and other legal documents
  • Present cases and recommendations in court (in-person and virtual)
  • Perform legal research and maintain accurate records in Judiciary databases (e.g., NJKids, FACTS)
  • Monitor case progress to ensure timely disposition and compliance with court orders
  • Coordinate with other divisions and external agencies to link clients to services
  • May be required to conduct urine screens, home visits, and occasional on-call duties outside regular hours

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in any area that includes or is supplemented by 24 credit hours in behavioral or social sciences
  • Applicants nearing graduation may apply, but degree must be completed by the start date if selected
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently, exercise appropriate judgment, and collaborate with colleagues and partner agencies
  • Familiarity with case management systems (experience with NJKids, FACTS or similar is a plus)
  • Ability to perform required physical duties for some assignments (frequent standing, lifting 30–50 lbs occasionally, possible up to 75 lbs)
  • Driver’s license valid in New Jersey if vehicle operation is required for the position
  • Authorization to work in the U.S. required; U.S. citizenship is not mandatory

Compensation & Work Location

  • Employment type: Full-time
  • Salary range: $55,943.00 — $95,153.11 (Schedule A) | $55,943.00 — $91,346.99 (Schedule B). Starting salary for new hires is typically the minimum of the applicable range.
  • Location: Freehold, NJ (regular and predictable physical presence at the worksite is essential)
  • Remote: Hybrid schedule may allow up to 2 days of remote work per week. Remote participation requires high-speed home internet and multifactor authentication.
