Probation and Parole Officer — Norman, OK. Confidential Client is hiring experienced and entry-level officers to supervise adult felony caseloads, perform investigations, and support re‑entry through evidence‑based supervision and transition planning.
What You’ll Do
- Manage a caseload of adult felons using evidence‑based practices (criminogenic risk/need assessment and transition planning).
- Use motivational interviewing and counseling skills to set goals, monitor compliance, and encourage pro‑social behavior.
- Refer clients to treatment and community resources; support employment and reintegration efforts.
- Conduct investigations (pre-sentence, interstate, pre-parole, pre-pardon) and prepare reports and recommendations.
- Maintain accurate physical and electronic case documentation and collect/payments ordered by releasing authority.
- Conduct drug and alcohol screenings and assist with security, arrests, and transport when necessary.
Level & Compensation
Compensation is set by level and is non-negotiable:
- Level I — $48,044.52 per year
- Level II — $50,834.80 per year
- Level III — $54,700.76 per year
Who You Are / Qualifications
- Level I: Bachelor’s degree with at least 24 semester hours in a related discipline (psychology, sociology, social work, criminology, criminal justice administration, penology, police science, education).
- Level II: Bachelor’s degree (same coursework) plus 2 years of correctional social casework experience involving classification, assessment, or field supervision; OR a Master’s in a listed field may substitute for one year of experience.
- Level III: Bachelor’s degree (same coursework) plus 4 years of correctional social casework experience; OR a Master’s in a listed field may substitute for one year of experience.
- Knowledge of laws, policies, evidence‑based supervision practices, investigation basics, report writing, and substance‑testing procedures.
- Strong written and verbal communication, case management, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work with community partners and support systems to build pro‑social networks for clients.
Requirements & Special Conditions
- Must meet state training and peace officer qualifications required for probation/parole officers (including any psychological or physical testing necessary for police certification).
- Applicants must be willing and able to perform required job‑related travel and possess a valid driver’s license.
- Subject to pre‑employment and periodic drug testing.
- Certain convictions or registrable offenses (per state law) make applicants ineligible; applicants with disqualifying convictions must have appropriate pardons or legal relief to be eligible.
- This is an on‑site position and is not eligible for remote work.
