Role Overview
Confidential Client is hiring a Probation and Parole Officer in Norman, OK. This is a full-time, on-site role (not eligible for remote work) focused on community supervision, case management, investigation, and evidence-based interventions to reduce recidivism and increase public safety.
What You’ll Do
- Manage a caseload of adult felons using motivational interviewing and validated criminogenic risk/need assessments.
- Design transition plans, make treatment referrals, and monitor adherence to court or releasing-authority conditions.
- Conduct investigations (pre-sentence, interstate, pre-pardon, pre-parole).
- Prepare written reports and recommendations for releasing authorities.
- Maintain accurate physical and electronic case documentation.
- Monitor and collect financial obligations ordered by releasing authorities.
- Conduct periodic drug and alcohol screening and manage results appropriately.
- Assist with security operations when required, including arrests and transports.
Levels & Typical Responsibilities
- Level I — Entry level: perform fundamental supervision duties and case management.
- Level II — Career level: full-performance supervision duties; may provide training/guidance to others.
- Level III — Specialist level: subject matter expert in areas such as motivational interviewing, assessment, or transition planning; supervises complex cases and may provide mentoring/training.
Compensation
Compensation is structured by level (non-negotiable):
- Level I: $48,044.52 per year
- Level II: $50,834.80 per year
- Level III: $54,700.76 per year
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with at least 24 semester hours in a combination of psychology, sociology, social work, criminology, education, criminal justice administration, penology or police science (Title 57 O.S. § 515).
- Level II: plus two years of relevant correctional social casework experience (or one year if substituted with an appropriate master’s degree).
- Level III: plus four years of relevant correctional social casework experience (or one year if substituted with an appropriate master’s degree).
Preferred Skills & Competencies
- Experience applying evidence-based community supervision practices.
- Proficiency with motivational interviewing and cognitive-behavioral programming.
- Strong report writing, investigation, and courtroom testimony skills.
- Ability to locate employment resources for clients and build community support networks.
- Comfort using electronic case management systems and standard office technology.
- Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel as required by the role.
Special Requirements & Conditions
- Applicants must be willing and able to perform travel normally associated with this position and possess a valid driver’s license.
- Applicants will be subject to drug testing.
- Must meet peace officer training and qualification requirements as described in applicable Oklahoma statutes (including psychological/physical testing and basic police course eligibility where required).
- No person convicted of disqualifying offenses (including certain felonies, domestic violence misdemeanors, or sex-offender registration offenses) is eligible for employment in this classification, as defined by Oklahoma law.
