Position overview
This is an entry-level Prevention Specialist role supporting the implementation of alcohol and other drug abuse prevention activities in Horry County. The Prevention Specialist will deliver training and educational presentations, coordinate prevention efforts with community partners and coalitions, provide technical assistance under supervisory direction, and prepare required reports and logs. The role requires outreach, public-facing representation of the Confidential Client, and occasional evening or weekend work.
Key responsibilities
- Implement activities from the alcohol and other drug abuse prevention plan for the assigned area.
- Deliver training and educational presentations to referral sources, partners, and the public.
- Provide coordination and technical assistance to agencies, groups and community coalition members.
- Represent the Confidential Client at meetings, events and community outreach activities.
- Track and enter program data, maintain daily logs, and prepare timely reports and deliverables.
- Support special projects and work extra hours when required by program needs.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred.
- Related prevention experience is preferred but entry-level applicants will be considered.
- Provisional / in-process certification as a Certified Prevention Specialist is required after hire.
- Ability to work evenings and weekends as needed.
- Strong communication and presentation skills and ability to work with community partners.
- Reliable, organized, and able to manage basic data entry and reporting tasks.
