What You’ll Do

Confidential Client is hiring a part-time Preschool Housed Substitute to provide classroom, food-service, and custodial support across Head Start centers in the community. You will fill in for absent staff (partial days, full days, or longer-term coverage), follow daily routines and safety requirements, and help maintain a high-quality preschool environment for children and families.

Responsibilities

• Substitute in classroom, kitchen, or custodial roles as needed
• Follow teacher direction to implement curriculum routines and active supervision
• Support children’s emerging skills through individual and small-group activities
• Prepare and serve meals per CACFP/Head Start standards; maintain kitchen sanitation
• Complete cleaning checklists and maintain center facilities and playground safety
• Assist with recordkeeping: meal counts, supply inventories, and basic child progress notes
• Support parent involvement activities and participate in staff meetings as assigned
• Travel between centers when assigned; reportable to different sites with limited notice

Qualifications

Minimum qualifications (required)

• 18 years of age or older
• High school diploma or GED
• Ability to read, write, and speak English
• Current Arizona Department of Public Safety Level One Fingerprint Clearance Card prior to start
• Ability to pass a company-paid physical exam and DES Centralized Background Check
• Ability to provide documentation to complete Form I-9 (right to work in the U.S.)
• Willingness/ability to obtain and maintain First Aid/CPR (Infants & Children) and Arizona Food Handlers Certificate if not already held
• Reliable transportation and ability to travel between centers (may include early or late hours)

Desired qualifications

• Six (6) months prior experience in a licensed childcare facility
• Child Development Associate (CDA) credential (preschool)
• Associate degree in Early Childhood Education or related field
• Bilingual in Spanish (ability to read, write, and speak Spanish)

Compensation & Benefits

• Hourly pay: $15.45 – $15.93 per hour (USD)

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

Work environment

• Indoor, temperature-controlled classrooms
• Outdoor playground supervision (exposure to heat/cold)
• Possible exposure to communicable illnesses and cleaning chemicals

Physical requirements

• Frequent stooping, bending, reaching, running, and getting up/down from the floor
• Lifting children (ages 3–5) approximately 30–40 lb
• Occasional lifting/pushing/pulling of supplies or furniture up to ~50 lb

• This is an entry-level, part-time position typically funded for 4 hours/day M–F but may require up to 8 hours in certain circumstances
