A Day in the Life

As a Prep Chemist in the LCMS department at our Confidential Client's El Dorado Hills, CA laboratory, you'll prepare and process environmental samples to support analytical testing. You will follow standard operating procedures, maintain clean and safe lab areas, and collaborate with analysts and group leaders to ensure accurate, on-time results.

Compensation: $25.00 - $30.00 / hr (hourly; commensurate with experience and location)
Schedule: Monday–Friday (flexible schedule or shift availability preferred)
Employment type: Full time

Key Responsibilities

• Preparation, extraction, and clean-up of various environmental sample matrices
• Perform sample preparation tasks (e.g., homogenization)
• Operate centrifuges, analytical balances, and evaporative systems using organic solvents
• Maintain and organize records of sample preparation and analysis
• Dispose of laboratory waste safely and in accordance with procedures
• Maintain clean laboratory workspaces and support general lab housekeeping
• Assist Group Leaders and analysts with inventorying consumables, chemicals, and parts
• Comply with the Confidential Client Quality Assurance Program and Health & Safety Plan
• Other duties as assigned by the Group Leader or Lab Director

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in chemical, environmental, physical, or biological sciences
• Willingness to follow documented procedures and work under supervision
• Ability to lift up to 50–60 pounds using company-provided equipment
• Ability to stand or remain in a stationary position for extended periods during a shift

Preferred Skills & Experience

• Basic understanding of laboratory techniques and lab safety
• Prior laboratory experience (preferred but not required — this is an entry-level role)
• Knowledge of analytical methods and instruments (LCMS experience is a plus)
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to high-quality work under time constraints
• Good organizational and communication skills
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team

• Work occurs in a laboratory and/or office environment
• Tasks include sitting, standing, walking, and occasional lifting with provided equipment
• May require rotating shifts, weekends, holidays, or overtime as operational needs dictate
