Role overview

Confidential client is hiring a Power Distribution Systems Operations Engineer at levels ranging from Entry → Staff → Senior → Principal. This role focuses on supporting distribution operations, automation, testing/diagnostics, and project delivery for electric distribution systems. Placement level will be commensurate with experience and certificates.


Key responsibilities

  • Use and apply technical standards, principles, theories and techniques to perform assigned engineering work of limited to broad scope depending on level.
  • Support development of technical documentation (designs, calculations, testing plans, standards, reports).
  • Provide ongoing technical support for Operations, Maintenance, Testing/diagnostics, and Regulatory activities.
  • Provide field engineering oversight for commissioning, testing and inspections under appropriate supervision.
  • Coordinate or lead projects or project segments (research, design, equipment selection, procurement support, installation and commissioning).
  • Support bid/evaluation processes with basic analysis and calculations and collaborate with other business groups.
  • Communicate technical information clearly across teams and with external vendors/customers.
  • Mentor and coordinate interns, drafters, technicians and less experienced engineers as appropriate.
  • Support project budgeting, estimating, forecasting and work order management activities.

Experience & minimum qualifications (by level)

Entry Engineer (Salary Range: $70,000 - $88,667)

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an ABET-accredited curriculum; electrical engineering preferred.
  • 0+ years relevant engineering experience.
  • Ability to demonstrate level-appropriate technical skills and core competencies.
  • EIT/FE preferred.

Staff Engineer (Salary Range: $81,000 - $106,267)

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering from ABET-accredited curriculum; electrical engineering preferred.
  • 2+ years relevant engineering experience.
  • Broad knowledge and proficiency in specialty area plus familiarity with related disciplines.
  • EIT/FE strongly preferred.

Senior Engineer (Salary Range: $97,000 - $129,267)

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering from ABET-accredited curriculum; electrical engineering preferred.
  • 5+ years relevant engineering experience with EIT/FE OR 7+ years without EIT/FE.
  • Demonstrated advanced technical skills; PE preferred depending on need.

Principal Engineer (Salary Range: $112,000 - $156,600)

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering from ABET-accredited curriculum; electrical engineering preferred.
  • 9+ years with PE required OR 15+ years without PE.
  • Proven advanced specialty skills and leadership on complex programs.

Preferred experience & skills

  • Experience with automated field devices (e.g., Eaton CBC 8000, SEL 651R, S&C IR/Teams, switched cabinets) — control and settings.
  • Distribution planning study experience with CYME/Synergy.
  • Familiarity with ADMS functions such as FLISR and IVVO and interactions with DERMS.
  • Experience with smart meter settings and distributed intelligent applications.
  • Cross-functional and field team collaboration.
  • Scripting and automation experience: PowerApps, SQL, Python.

Work model & location

  • Primary work location: Glendale, CO (Glendale, Colorado).
  • Confidential client supports a hybrid work model; many roles expect on-site collaboration typically ~3 days/week (Tuesday–Thursday). Actual schedule will depend on role, team and business needs.

Compensation & benefits

  • Overall posted salary range across levels: $70,000 — $156,600 per year (level-specific ranges shown above).
  • Anticipated starting base pay for this posting: $70,000–$156,600 per year.
