What You’ll Do

Confidential Client is hiring an entry-level Pollution Control Monitor I (OWP) to join the Environmental Monitoring team. You will install, maintain, calibrate, and repair sewer flow and surface-water monitoring equipment and support field and data tasks that ensure compliance with federal, state, and local water pollution controls.

  • Install, calibrate, maintain, and repair sewer flow monitoring equipment in manholes, surface water monitoring stations, remote camera stations, and rain gauges.
  • Respond to and assist in remediation of spill sites; remove debris and disinfect as required.
  • Monitor historical problem sites and rainfall data to prioritize field inspections and corrective actions.
  • Conduct color dye tests, sonar tests, and other field diagnostics to identify blockages and flow issues.
  • Perform Class 1–3 repairs on sensors, modems, data retrievers, power sources, and related equipment.
  • Perform routine site and equipment maintenance (including manhole entry, equipment programming, vegetation trimming).
  • Support office and warehouse tasks: data processing, inventory management, safety meetings, and daily vehicle inspections.
  • Attend technical meetings with modeling staff and partners; document and report findings clearly.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, Biological Sciences, Geophysical Science, OR equivalent combination of education and experience under prescribed guidelines.
  • At least one year of experience with flow or remote monitoring systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and reports and to prepare concise written documentation.
  • Must be able to pass state and federal background checks.

Licenses & Certifications

  • Valid Georgia driver’s license required at time of appointment and must remain valid during employment.
  • Confined space entry training is required (classroom training provided; pass required where applicable).
  • Use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and adherence to OSHA/NIOSH safety standards is mandatory.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Direct sewer flow monitoring or remote monitoring experience.
  • Mechanical, maintenance, or process-control experience.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills with electronic sensors and data systems.
  • Effective communication skills for coordinating with technical leads, managers, and public stakeholders.

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

  • Field work year-round in inclement weather; may require travel on foot through undeveloped access areas.
  • Must be able to exert up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, up to 30 pounds frequently, and up to 10 pounds constantly.
  • May require manhole entry and other field activities with associated safety procedures and PPE.

Compensation & Employment Type

  • Salary range: $44,286 - $55,357 per year (as posted).
  • This is a full-time position.
  • This role may include telecommute/remote components combined with field duties.
