Role overview

Confidential Client is hiring an Entry‑Level Plumbing/Fire Protection Engineer in Schiller Park, IL. This role is ideal for recent graduates or early‑career engineers who want hands‑on experience designing plumbing and fire protection systems, contributing to Revit/BIM models, and supporting multidisciplinary building projects (education, healthcare, corporate, and science & technology). This position supports hybrid/telecommute options subject to project requirements.


What You’ll Do

  • With appropriate supervision, perform uncomplicated designs of piping, controls and equipment selection for plumbing and fire protection systems; assist with HVAC designs as needed.
  • Support Revit/BIM modeling for plumbing and fire protection construction drawings from schematic design through construction administration.
  • Assist with specifications and coordinate with the design team.
  • Draft technical reports and documentation for senior engineer review.
  • Review submittals and shop drawings for compliance with contract documents.
  • Conduct job site visits to verify existing conditions and observe construction progress (onsite walk‑throughs required as needed).
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support project delivery.

What You’ll Need

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering required by hire date (ABET‑accredited program preferred).
  • Fundamental knowledge of heat transfer, fluid dynamics and principles applicable to plumbing, fire protection and HVAC system design.
  • Internship or related student experience preferred.
  • EIT certification and/or LEED accreditation preferred.
  • Strong communication, teamwork, organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks.
  • Familiarity with engineering/design software (Revit, Trane Trace or Trane 3D Plus) is a plus.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Hourly pay range for the Chicago/Schiller Park role: $28.08 to $35.10 per hour.
  • Estimated annual market figure (for reference): ~$78,746 (varies by location and experience).
  • Employees may be eligible for discretionary bonuses.
