Responsibilities

You will join the MEP team as an entry-level Plumbing Designer supporting plumbing and fire protection design across multiple project types. This role combines hands-on CAD/Revit work, coordination with engineers and architects, and occasional field verification.

  • Design plumbing and fire protection systems — domestic water, sanitary, storm drainage, medical gas, fire suppression, and related systems
  • Produce construction documents using Revit and AutoCAD
  • Coordinate plumbing design with other MEP disciplines and project stakeholders
  • Assist with site surveys and field verification as needed
  • Apply and stay current with applicable codes (Illinois Plumbing Code, IPC, NFPA)

Qualifications

We welcome applicants from technical, trade, or academic backgrounds who are eager to build a career in plumbing design.

  • Familiarity with CAD, drafting, or design software (professional experience, trade background, or coursework all count)
  • Strong spatial and systems thinking
  • Self-motivated and able to take ownership of assigned work
  • Clear, collaborative written and verbal communication
  • Genuine interest in a long-term plumbing design career
  • Transferable skills from nontraditional backgrounds are encouraged — aptitude and potential are valued

Helpful but Not Required

  • Direct Revit or AutoCAD experience
  • Construction, trades, or engineering background
  • Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field
  • Certified Plumbing Designer (CPD) or interest in pursuing certification
