What You’ll Do
Confidential Client is hiring an entry-level Platform Engineer I to support customers on managed Tenable vulnerability management and Horizon3.ai (NodeZero) autonomous pentesting services. You will own day-to-day queue operations, keep customer scanning and pentest environments healthy, and act as a responsive, knowledgeable point of contact for technical customer inquiries.
- Triage, prioritize, and resolve incoming service tickets for Tenable and Horizon3.ai customers in compliance with SLA targets
- Diagnose and resolve scanning problems: failed/incomplete scans, credentialed-scan authentication errors, offline Nessus scanners/agents, and NodeZero host deployment/connectivity issues
- Document troubleshooting steps, root causes, and resolutions in the ticketing system and publish internal “how-to” knowledge articles
- Validate complex or high-severity vulnerability findings with reproducible results before escalation to the Lead Technical SME
- Collaborate with automation engineers to identify repeatable ticket sequences and help convert manual tasks into automated playbooks
- Cross-train on other exposure management queues and provide backup support across operational pods as assigned
- Log time accurately by client and task in the department time-tracking portal
Environment Maintenance & Integrity
- Build, schedule, and monitor recurring Tenable scans (Tenable Vulnerability Management/Tenable.io, Tenable Security Center, Nessus) and Horizon3.ai NodeZero autonomous pentests
- Maintain accurate asset lists, scan policies, credentials, tags, and exclusion zones to reflect evolving client networks
- Deploy, update, and perform routine health checks on Nessus scanners, Nessus Agents, and NodeZero Docker hosts
- Verify scan coverage and data quality; proactively flag gaps such as unscanned subnets or stale assets
- Track vendor updates and safely execute platform version upgrades during approved maintenance windows
Reporting & Customer Communication
- Generate and deliver scheduled, client-ready vulnerability and pentest reports
- Post clear, plain-language status updates within customer tickets and escalate non-standard client questions to team leadership
Who You Are
- Aspiring specialist with 0–2 years in IT support, help desk, NOC/SOC, or related technical environments (rigorous labs, internships, and homelabs count)
- Networking literate: working knowledge of TCP/IP, DNS, subnets, ports, firewalls, and VPNs
- Systems generalist: basic Windows and Linux administration skills and comfort using the command line for troubleshooting
- Vulnerability aware: foundational knowledge of CVEs, CVSS scoring, patching basics, and common misconfigurations
- Dependable operator: organized, self-motivated, and disciplined when managing a queue and meeting SLAs
- Clear communicator: strong written and verbal skills; able to translate technical issues for non-technical clients
- Education: Associate/Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical training/experience in IT, Cybersecurity, or Computer Science
- Compliance: ability to pass a standard background check
Nice to Have
- Hands-on exposure to Tenable platforms (Nessus, Tenable Vulnerability Management, Security Center) or Horizon3.ai NodeZero
- Familiarity with vulnerability/pentesting tools such as Qualys, Rapid7, Nmap, or Metasploit
- Basic Docker/container and virtualization (VMware, Hyper-V, cloud VMs) knowledge
- Understanding of Active Directory, credentialed scanning, and least-privilege service accounts
- Experience with Jira Service Management, ServiceNow, or ConnectWise
- Basic scripting for automation (PowerShell, Python, Bash) and familiarity with REST APIs
- Relevant certifications in progress or active (CompTIA Security+, Network+, CySA+, Tenable certifications)
- Prior customer-facing MSSP or managed services support experience
