What You’ll Do
Confidential Client is seeking an entry-level Planner to support municipal and land development projects and to provide technical support across architecture and aviation practice areas. This role will work on a variety of assignments and help prepare materials for regulatory review and client presentations.
Primary responsibilities include:
- Assist with review of development proposals and plans for conformance with municipal codes, comprehensive plans, studies, and regulations
- Analyze municipal regulations and help prepare land use applications (special permits, variances, site plan review, historic preservation reviews)
- Conduct basic technical research under the State Environmental Quality Review Act (SEQRA), including data analysis and preparation of required forms and supporting documentation
- Prepare, coordinate, and submit project submittal packages for zoning and site development review, including fee calculations
- Create digital and print presentation materials
- Assist in preparation of reports, forms, and grant applications
Who You Are / Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Urban, Community or Regional Planning, Civil Engineering, Architecture, Historic Preservation, Geography, or a related field
- 0–2 years practical experience with site planning, civil engineering review, architectural design review, zoning codes, or land use board procedures (entry-level candidates are encouraged to apply)
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail; ability to balance multiple priorities
- Excellent analytical, technical writing, verbal, and interpersonal skills
- Self-motivated, able to work independently and collaboratively on project teams
- Technical aptitude for responding to municipal comments and working with permitting processes at local, state, and federal levels
- Computer proficiency with Microsoft Office; experience with communication graphics, presentation software, or website platforms is preferred
- Knowledge of GIS, civil engineering, building construction, architecture, land use law, or subdivision regulations is a plus but not required
