Position Overview
Confidential Client is seeking a Philanthropy Associate to support fundraising operations, donor stewardship, and fundraising communications. This full-time, in-office role is based in Asheville, NC and is ideal for an organized, detail-oriented professional with 1–2 years of relevant experience and a passion for nonprofit development. The position offers a salary range of $51,000–$56,000/year plus benefits.
What You’ll Do
The Philanthropy Associate will split time across philanthropy operations, fundraising communications, and team/administrative support.

Philanthropy Operations — Gift Processing, Record Management, Data Integrity, Research, and Stewardship (≈50%)

Serve as the staff lead for gift and donor recordkeeping in the fundraising CRM (Bloomerang preferred), including gift entry, processing, and timely acknowledgement production.

Apply gift allocation and accounting codes in partnership with Finance and support monthly/quarterly/annual reconciliation.

Track event registrations, receipts, and revenue; ensure accurate receipting and acknowledgement.

Build, analyze, and distribute fundraising activity reports identifying new/increased gifts and lapsed donors.

Maintain physical and digital funder/prospect files and other fundraising platforms; document and improve systems, policies, and procedures to ensure data integrity.

Research prospective funders’ capacity and philanthropic interests to inform outreach and strategy.

Steward donations and donor preferences accurately and respectfully.

Fundraising Communications, Campaign Production, and Project Management (≈30%)

Write and produce fundraising communications (digital and print solicitations, acknowledgements, stewardship updates, event content).

Lead production of 2–3 seasonal fundraising solicitations each year: pull/refine contact lists, set goals, and track progress.

Manage participation in community giving campaigns (e.g., local Give!Local-style campaigns).

Support production of annual or impact reports, sponsorship guides, and other philanthropic collateral.

Project-manage design and production with contracted creative partners and internal stakeholders.

Team & Organizational Support (≈20%)

Provide administrative and clerical support for the Philanthropy & Communications function: filing, meeting logistics, note-taking, funding application/report support, and special event logistics.

Serve as administrative lead for the Philanthropy & Communications Committee (board committee support).

Participate in staff meetings, support events, and provide interdepartmental assistance as needed.

Other duties as assigned.
There are no supervisory responsibilities for this role.
Who You Are / Qualifications
- Strong affinity for the organization’s mission and values (required).
- Associate’s degree in a related field or equivalent career experience required; bachelor’s degree preferred.
- 1–2 years of progressive experience in data entry, administrative, or clerical roles; experience with CRM/databases (donor management software such as Bloomerang preferred).
- Experience producing bulk communications using mail merges or similar processes.
- Strong writing and proofreading skills with the ability to craft clear, accurate fundraising communications.
- High proficiency with Google Workspace and/or Microsoft Office; comfortable with office hardware (printers, scanners, phones).
- Experience working or volunteering in a nonprofit setting preferred, especially in fund development or customer-service roles.

Compensation & Benefits
- Salary range: $51,000–$56,000 per year.
- Benefits may include: medical, dental, vision; life and short/long-term disability options; 3% retirement contribution after 1 year of service; 12 paid holidays; paid time off starting at 20 days in year 1 (increasing with tenure).

Working Conditions
- This is primarily an in-office position based in Asheville, NC. Episodic telecommuting may be permitted later in the role per organizational telecommuting policy and performance.
- Standard workweek: 37.5 hours (Monday–Friday) with occasional evenings or weekends for events.
- Physical requirements: ability to work on a computer for extended periods; occasional lifting/carrying up to 20 lbs; travel to offsite events or project locations as needed.
