What You’ll Do
Confidential Client is hiring a Pharmacy Technician to support pharmacy operations in Lubbock, TX. Typical responsibilities include:
- Assist pharmacists with dispensing and preparing medications, including filling prescriptions and pre‑packing medications
- Operate pharmacy information systems and basic dispensing/automation equipment under supervision
- Prepare and process medication orders for delivery and distribution
- Maintain accurate inventory records and assist with stock management
- Maintain appropriate patient and pharmacy files and documentation
- Communicate professionally with patients, caregivers, and healthcare staff
- Follow established policies, procedures, and federal/state pharmacy regulations
- Perform routine pharmacy tasks while learning more advanced functions under supervision
Qualifications
Candidates must meet the minimum requirements below. Selection grade may range from entry-level up to full performance (GS‑3 through GS‑6 equivalent).
- United States Citizenship required (appointments of non‑citizens only when permitted by policy)
- Proficiency in written and spoken English
- Education / experience options by level:
- GS‑03 level: One year of post‑secondary education OR six months of general experience OR eligible student technician status
- GS‑04 level: Two years post‑secondary coursework related to pharmacy OR six months demonstrated related experience OR completion of an approved military or nationally recognized pharmacy technician training program
- GS‑05 level: Four years post‑secondary education related to pharmacy OR associate degree in pharmacy technician/technology OR one year experience at GS‑04 level
- GS‑06 level: One year experience equivalent to GS‑05; expected to exercise greater judgment and require less supervision
- Knowledge, skills and abilities (examples required across levels):
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions, policies and procedures
- Ability to maintain files and documentation
- Ability to communicate with patients and health professionals
- Ability to operate office and pharmacy software, printers and dispensing equipment
- Knowledge of pharmaceuticals, nomenclature and basic pharmacy operations (for higher levels)
- Knowledge of federal and state pharmacy laws and special handling procedures (for higher levels)
- Physical requirements (examples):
- Ability to lift/carry moderate amounts (15–44 pounds)
- Ability to walk and stand for limited periods
- Near/far vision (with correction permitted), depth perception, basic color distinction
- Hearing (hearing aid permitted); emotional and mental stability
Preferred Experience
- National Pharmacy Technician certification (PTCB Certified Pharmacy Technician / CPhT or NHA ExCPT)
- Previous experience in a VA healthcare setting or other hospital/retail pharmacy
- Experience using pharmacy automation systems and dispensing technologies
- Strong attention to detail and prior experience maintaining inventory and records
