Pharmacist (TN-License Only, 100% Remote)
This fully remote contract role requires a licensed Tennessee pharmacist to conduct clinical evaluations of utilization management requests such as prior authorizations and formulary exceptions. What You’ll Do
This Prior Authorization Pharmacist role focuses on utilization management for commercial pharmacy members. You will make clinical coverage determinations, communicate with providers and members, and help maintain consistent, high-quality decision-making across the pharmacist team.
- Conduct clinical evaluations for coverage determination requests (prior authorizations, step therapy, quantity limits, formulary and tier exceptions).
- Apply client-specific UM criteria to approve or deny requests using clinical judgment.
- Communicate directly with healthcare providers and members regarding non-formulary or coverage issues.
- Collaborate with pharmacist colleagues to ensure consistent decisions and adherence to quality standards.
- Participate in scheduled team and management touchpoints.
- Complete cases efficiently while meeting quality targets (target quality score: 95%+).
- Maintain strong attendance and clear, professional communication.
What We’re Looking For
- Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) or Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy.
- Current Tennessee pharmacist license in good standing with the State Board of Pharmacy.
- Ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple projects, and make independent clinical decisions.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Comfortable learning new clinical and benefits systems; basic IT troubleshooting.
- Experience using multiple monitors.
- Proficient with Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Typing speed of 45+ WPM preferred.
- Experience with Pharmacy Benefits Management (PBM) or utilization management is a plus but not required.
Compensation & Benefits
- Pay range: $55.00 per hour (contract). Individual pay within this range will depend on qualifications, experience, and other job-related factors.
