Overview

Confidential Client (Scientific & QA) is hiring a PH Environmental Health Specialist 1 or 2 based in Northlake, GA. This is a full-time, salaried role (40 hours/week, M–F) with a salary range of $42,819–$46,836 per year. This entry-level to early-career role provides on‑the‑job training and exposure to a wide range of public health inspection and environmental health programs.

Job Responsibilities

• Under direct supervision, learn to evaluate programs for compliance with Georgia environmental health regulations.
• Perform public health inspections including:
  • On‑Site Sewage Management Systems
  • Food service establishments
  • Public swimming pools
  • Tourist accommodations
  • Body art studios
  • Animal bite investigations
• Respond to public health emergencies and provide support services as requested.
• Interact professionally with homeowners, business owners, animal shelter staff, and the public.
• Conduct daily driving within the assigned service area for inspections and follow‑up.
• Perform other duties as assigned to support departmental public health goals.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university that includes 27 semester hours (or 40 quarter hours) in laboratory sciences (for example: chemistry, biology, geology, physics).

Preferred / Role Level

• Candidates may be hired at the Environmental Health Specialist 1 (entry) level or Environmental Health Specialist 2 (with approximately one year of relevant experience). Strong communication and time‑management skills are important for success.

Working Conditions & Physical Requirements

• Must be able to work both outdoors and indoors in varied climates.
• Ability to lift, push, pull, or carry up to 40 pounds on a regular basis.
• Ability to bend, twist, and stoop frequently.
• Daily travel within the county is required for inspection duties.
• The role may require interactions with animals and visits to animal shelters.

Compensation & Schedule

• Salary range: $42,819–$46,836 per year.
• Full‑time, salaried position based on a 40‑hour work week (Monday–Friday).
• This position may qualify for Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF).

Clearances, Screening & Other Requirements

• All offers are contingent on a successful criminal history record check.
• Required education credentials, licenses, certifications, and/or registrations must be submitted prior to employment.
• Some positions may require pre‑employment drug testing.
• Candidates should be prepared to assist with emergency public health response functions, if requested.
