Role Overview
This is an entry-level Personal Banker role (SAFE Act / NMLS-compliant) for a Confidential Client branch in Chicago, IL. The position requires bilingual English/Spanish skills, strong customer service, and sales aptitude. You will help acquire and grow consumer and small-business relationships through account opening, product cross-sell, client education on digital services, and exceptional branch-level service.
What You’ll Do
- Work with business credit requests under $250K; identify and refer larger lending opportunities to appropriate teams.
- Cross-sell deposit, treasury, and small-business products to deepen customer relationships.
- Generate referral opportunities through Centers of Influence (COIs) and member referral programs.
- Execute outbound and inbound client outreach to acquire new relationships and deepen existing ones.
- Coach and support tellers and branch staff on product features, promotions, and client referral cues.
- Educate clients on digital and self-service channels and leverage marketing/technology tools to uncover opportunities.
- Present product offers and financial solutions while maintaining excellent client experience.
- Follow all policies, procedures, and compliance requirements; appropriately assess and escalate risk and control issues.
- Maintain NMLS/SAFE Act compliance where applicable.
Qualifications
- 0–2 years of relevant experience; previous banking, retail, or sales experience preferred.
- Bilingual in English and Spanish (verbal and written) — required for this posting.
- Familiarity with branch sales, account opening, and basic small-business banking products.
- Knowledge of digital banking tools and ability to coach clients on channels and features.
- NMLS registration / SAFE Act compliant (or willingness/ability to obtain where required).
- Strong verbal and written communication skills and customer-focused service orientation.
- Demonstrated ethical judgment and ability to follow regulatory and internal policy requirements.
Education & Career Level
- Bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent experience.
- Entry-level to early-career (0–2 years). Development, coaching, and training opportunities are typically provided.
Compensation & Benefits
- Primary location full-time salary range (posted): $54,100.00 - $75,500.00 per year.
- Estimated market figure shown in source: $72,714/year (for orientation only).
