What You’ll Do
This is an entry-level Payroll & HR Specialist role supporting both payroll operations and general HR administration for a confidential client in the industrial manufacturing, steel fabrication, and structural solutions industry. You will be a primary point of contact for employee questions, handle timekeeping and payroll processing, and support onboarding and personnel recordkeeping in a fast-paced plant/office environment.

Payroll administration
- Collect, review, and verify weekly timecards and electronic clock-ins for hourly and salaried staff
- Calculate regular hours, overtime, shift differentials, and prevailing rates when applicable
- Process weekly/bi-weekly payroll via payroll software (examples: ADP, Paylocity, QuickBooks) with a high degree of accuracy
- Manage withholdings, voluntary deductions, direct deposit setup, and wage garnishments
- Track and update PTO, sick leave balances, and attendance logs

Human resources & onboarding support
- Facilitate new-hire orientation, complete onboarding documentation, and assist with Form I-9 verification
- Maintain digital and physical personnel files in compliance with federal, state, and company recordkeeping rules
- Assist employees with benefits enrollment (health, dental, 401(k)) and respond to routine HR inquiries
- Track trade certifications, safety training, and OSHA compliance documentation
- Support shop-floor supervisors with administrative tasks and basic employee relations
Qualifications & Requirements
- Education: Associate’s degree or High School Diploma with relevant administrative experience; Bachelor’s in HR, Business, or Accounting preferred
- Experience: 1–3 years in payroll, HR, or office administration; manufacturing or industrial experience is a plus
- Technical skills: Proficiency with Microsoft Excel (data entry, basic formulas) and familiarity with payroll/HRIS platforms (e.g., ADP, Paylocity, QuickBooks)
- Attributes: High integrity, strong attention to detail, excellent verbal/written communication, and ability to maintain confidentiality
- Legal/compliance: Ability to complete I-9 verification and maintain compliant personnel records
Compensation & Schedule
- Estimated salary: $47,368 per year (estimated)
- Employment type: Full-time
- Location: On-site (plant / office) — Dickinson, TX
- Schedule: Regular business hours with weekly/bi-weekly payroll cycles; occasional coordination with shop schedules for timekeeping
