What You’ll Do
This entry-level Patient Recruitment Specialist supports clinical research studies by recruiting and engaging potential volunteers, handling study inquiries, and coordinating local outreach to ensure studies meet recruitment goals while following approved protocols and ethical guidelines.
- Answer the dedicated advertisement phone line and respond to emails from prospective study volunteers in a professional and timely manner.
- Provide clear, approved information about clinical studies using scripts and materials provided by the study team.
- Document demographic and contact details for prospective volunteers accurately and completely.
- Enter and maintain volunteer records in the study database; keep records current.
- Place flyers and brochures throughout the community to promote active and upcoming studies.
- Attend community events to advertise studies and interact with potential participants.
- Plan and coordinate local recruitment efforts with administration and clinical research team members.
- Review protocol inclusion/exclusion criteria, informed consent materials, and study schedules to screen appropriately.
- Recruit volunteers by clearly communicating approved protocol information and next steps to prospective participants.
- Track advertising and outreach costs and work within established budget parameters.
What We’re Looking For
- Demonstrated interest in recruiting and clinical research or related fields.
- Ability to explain study information clearly and consistently using approved scripts and materials.
- Strong attention to detail for documenting demographic and contact information.
- Comfortable using computer systems to create forms, reports, advertisements, and database entries.
- Ability to learn protocol inclusion/exclusion criteria, informed consent forms, and study schedules.
- Strong organizational skills to coordinate multiple outreach activities.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills for phone, email, and in-person interactions.
- Professional, ethical approach when interacting with prospective volunteers and study teams.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in a scientific discipline preferred; Associate of Science will also be considered.
- Customer service or other customer-facing experience that supports positive interactions.
- Comfortable attending community events and engaging with diverse groups.
- Experience or interest in social media and web-based outreach.
- Ability to track and evaluate advertising and recruitment campaign effectiveness.
- No prior clinical research experience required — training will be provided.
Work Environment & Schedule
- Office-based role with regular computer and database use.
- Regular community outreach: placing flyers, attending events, and face-to-face recruitment.
- Collaborative environment with clinical research professionals; adherence to ethical guidelines required.
- This position is onsite in East Syracuse, NY. Some evenings or weekend event attendance may be required depending on outreach schedules.

Compensation & Benefits
- Pay range: $23.00 - $24.00 per hour. Final pay within this range will depend on qualifications, experience, location, and other job-related factors.
