About the Role
Join a confidential client as a Nursing Assistant / Patient Care Technician on a Surgical Oncology unit (10 North) focused on gastrointestinal and liver surgery. This full-time role supports high-quality patient care on a 25-bed, all-private-room unit that treats patients with colon, gastric, pancreatic cancers and liver resections. The role is hands-on and patient-facing, supporting nurses and physicians across the care team.
What You’ll Do
- Deliver routine patient care and support services following established policies and procedures
- Assist with ADLs — bathing, feeding, toileting, ambulating, repositioning, transferring/transporting patients
- Take and document vital signs, perform simple dressings and specimen collection
- Perform bladder scans and 12‑lead EKGs when trained/assigned
- Monitor blood glucose and report clinically relevant findings to nursing staff
- Report equipment malfunctions and safety concerns promptly
- Support therapies and patient instruction under RN guidance
- Maintain professional communication and documentation; complete clerical tasks as needed
- Adhere to workplace safety standards and infection-control policies
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required
- Minimum commitment: 20 hours per week; roles typically include rotating shifts (day, evening, overnight), weekends and holidays
- Experience: entry-level candidates welcome; Senior Patient Care Technician candidates must meet one of the stated experience/education options below
- Preferred: EMT/Paramedic certification or enrollment in EMT/Paramedic program
For the Senior Patient Care Technician title (when posted as Senior):
- Option A: 2 years of general healthcare experience plus meeting Patient Care Technician requirements
- Option B: 1 year of relevant healthcare experience plus current enrollment in PT/OT/PA program with at least one completed clinical rotation
- Option C: 1 year of relevant healthcare experience plus completion of a bachelor’s degree in a health sciences field
Licensure & Certifications
- CPR/BLS required based on American Heart Association standards (didactic + skills demonstration) — must be completed within 30 days of hire if not already current
- ACLS preferred (based on unit needs)
- Any required background checks, clearances, or state-specific checks (e.g., as applicable) must be completed prior to hire

Schedule & Compensation

- Compensation information (provided by source): estimated annual pay approximately $40,071; entry-level hourly rate listed at $19.40. Actual pay will be based on qualifications and the client’s pay structure.
