Position Overview

Confidential Client is hiring a Full-Time Patient Care Technician for an inpatient rehabilitation unit in Pittsburgh, PA. This hands-on clinical support role delivers direct patient care under RN supervision in a 20-bed acute inpatient rehab setting caring for patients recovering from stroke, trauma, cardiovascular events (including LVAD patients), transplant and general debility. Shifts rotate and may include days, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays. Candidates should be prepared to work 12-hour shifts (with occasional 8-hour shifts) and a minimum of 20 hours per week.


What You’ll Do

  • Deliver routine patient care and support services following established policies and procedures.
  • Assist patients with activities of daily living (ADLs) — bathing, feeding, toileting, ambulation, turning/repositioning, and safe patient transport.
  • Take and document vital signs; perform simple dressings, 12-lead EKGs, bladder scans and specimen collection.
  • Assist with blood glucose monitoring and other point-of-care tasks within scope of practice.
  • Provide direct support for therapy sessions and follow RN directions for support therapies and patient instruction.
  • Report equipment issues and safety concerns; communicate effectively with nurses, therapists and physicians.
  • Maintain a professional, patient-centered approach and accurate documentation; perform clerical tasks as needed.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Entry-level hourly rate listed at $19.40; estimated annual salary shown in source materials: $53,581 (Confidential Client will determine final title and pay based on qualifications and career ladder progression).
  • For Senior Patient Care Technician title (when applicable), one of the following is required:
    • 2 years of general healthcare experience and meet PCT requirements, OR
    • 1 year of healthcare experience plus enrollment in PT/OT/PA program with at least one clinical rotation completed, OR
    • 1 year of healthcare experience plus a bachelor’s degree in a health sciences field.
  • Nursing students who have completed one clinical rotation are preferred.
  • EMT or Paramedic credential, or current enrollment in EMT/Paramedic program, is preferred.
  • Successful completion of required unit training, eRecord training and any client-specific clinical courses.

Licensure, Certifications & Clearances

  • CPR/BLS required per AHA standards (didactic + skills demonstration) within 30 days of hire.
  • ACLS preferred where applicable.
  • May require completion of a client-specific cardiac rhythm course as determined by unit operations.
  • Background checks and any state-required clearances (e.g., PA state checks) will be completed as part of hiring processes.

Schedule & Compensation

  • Full-time; rotating shifts that include days, evenings, overnights, weekends and holidays.
  • Primary shift pattern includes 12-hour shifts (mix of 8- and 12-hour shifts possible).
  • Minimum commitment: 20 hours/week.
  • Entry hourly rate: $19.40 (final pay and job title based on experience and career ladder advancement). Estimated annual pay shown in source materials: $53,581.
