What You’ll Do
This Patient Access Representative II role handles patient registration and front‑end financial interactions in a healthcare setting. Primary responsibilities include:
- Verify patient identity and select/confirm the correct patient record in the EHR
- Review schedules and physician orders to register patients for appropriate services
- Scan and manage important documents (insurance cards, IDs, living wills, POAs)
- Verify and enter demographic and insurance information accurately
- Explain and complete regulatory and compliance documentation; follow privacy/HIPAA requirements
- Collect co‑payments, deposits, and outstanding balances; process transactions securely
- Greet patients and families, answer routine questions, and direct patients to the correct service areas
- Support scheduling, pre‑admission, and discharge tasks as needed
- Provide patient status updates to families in waiting areas and escalate questions appropriately
Who We’re Looking For (Qualifications)
Minimum requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent (Required)
- 2 years of customer service OR data entry experience (Required)
- Healthcare experience (Required)
- Demonstrated proficiency in computer keyboarding and basic EHR navigation (Required)
- Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills (Required)
- Attention to detail: proper grammar, spelling and punctuation
Preferred (nice to have):
- Knowledge of third‑party payers, ICD‑9/CPT coding, and medical terminology
- Prior experience with patient registration, admitting, or insurance verification
Note: An Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree can be considered in lieu of two years of experience.
Compensation & Benefits
Pay and benefits information provided by our client:
- Base pay range (reference): $20.24 - $30.25 per hour (source listing; actual pay offered may vary based on hours, qualifications, experience, location and business needs)
- Additional compensation may include shift differentials, on‑call pay, overtime, shift premiums, extra‑shift incentives or discretionary bonuses
