Role summary

Confidential Client (Healthcare & Nursing) is seeking a Patient Access Representative to support patient registration, insurance verification, payment collection, and front-desk coordination. This role supports efficient patient flow and excellent patient experiences in a clinical setting. Remote work options may be available for eligible candidates in approved states (see Applicant Requirements).


What You’ll Do

  • Verify patient identity and select the correct patient records.
  • Register patients for scheduled services by reviewing schedules and physician orders.
  • Enter and update patient demographic and insurance data in the electronic health record (EHR).
  • Scan and attach documents (insurance cards, IDs, living wills, powers of attorney).
  • Explain and obtain signatures on regulatory and compliance paperwork while protecting patient privacy.
  • Collect co-payments, deposits, and outstanding balances; process transactions securely.
  • Greet patients and family members, answer basic questions, and direct patients to the appropriate service area.
  • May assist with scheduling, pre-admission, discharge duties, and provide waiting-room updates to families.
  • Maintain accurate notes and follow privacy/compliance procedures at all times.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Associate’s or bachelor’s degree may be considered in lieu of two years of experience.
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in customer service or data entry preferred.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in computer keyboarding and basic EHR/data-entry tasks.
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills; proper grammar, spelling and punctuation.
  • Preferred: familiarity with third-party payers, ICD/CPT coding basics, and medical terminology.
  • Ability to handle sensitive information in accordance with HIPAA and other regulations.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Pay range (full-time): $20.24 – $30.25 per hour (range provided by Confidential Client).
  • Additional pay may include shift differentials, overtime, premiums, on-call pay, or bonus incentives when applicable.
  • Benefits package includes medical, dental, vision; life and disability insurance; retirement plan with employer match; paid time off, parental leave; tuition assistance and student-debt pay-down programs; and voluntary benefits (details vary by location and eligibility).
